It is powered by a 390.8cc 4-stroke, single-cylinder, water-cooled EFI engine producing up to 26 HP, with a listed top speed of approximately 43.2 MPH. The Taurus 450U is built for serious off-road capability with on-demand 2WD/4WD, a locking differential, High/Low gearing, and four-wheel independent suspension. Low-range gearing provides the additional torque needed for steep climbs, with a listed climbing capability of up to 30 degrees under suitable conditions. Front MacPherson and rear dual A-arm suspension, adjustable heavy-duty shocks, large aggressive tires, aluminum wheels, rack-and-pinion steering, and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes provide the traction, stability, and control needed for challenging terrain.
